What a night at HPRC for Round 1 of The Lake Handicap Series!
39 runners took on the one-lap challenge, with a mix of 12 women and 27 men racing not just each other, but their own predicted finish times.
The handicap format delivered a thrilling finish as always — the slowest runner set off first, and the fastest chased from the back, with a 14-minute spread between them. On average, predictions were just 2 seconds off the final times – incredible pacing! ⏱️
20 runners beat their predicted time, but the standout was Joanne Congerton, who smashed hers by 2 minutes and 20 seconds.
Fastest lap of the night went to Dave Greenwood in 16:29.
Big thanks to our volunteers, marshals, and timing crew – it was hectic at the finish line but you nailed it.
Also thanks to everyone who captured photos and footage – we love seeing your content!
Handicaps will be adjusted for Race 2, so it’s still all to play for…
Well done everyone – see you next time!
