The Lake Handicap is a 3 race series through the Summer.
We'll aim to start at 7 with registration open from 6.15 to pick up your number. We've sent a link to register to club members via email.
Each race is 1 lap of the lake - just short of 5km. The catch however is that runners are given a handicap based on the last time they ran round (or a distance adjusted recent 5km time for debutants). Runners are sent off in pace order from slowest to fastest. The idea being that if everyone runs to their handicap, it should be a blanket finish.
It’s a great inclusive run as everyone has a chance to win. Stay ahead of the runners behind you and try to overtake the runners in front! Push yourself in to the pain cave to beat your predicted time and climb the leaderboard!
Points are accumulated over the 3 races dependent on finish position. Therefore, in order to have a shot of winning the series you need to improve on each run, meaning the series becomes a great indicator of improving fitness, speed and racing craft over the Summer months.
