25th Anniversary Relay – The Big One!

The culmination of our Length and Breadth of England run was over the bank holiday weekend in August (evening of Friday 24^th to evening of Monday 27^th) to finish at The Test Match Inn in West Bridgford. More will be published here over the next few days and weeks as people send in reports and photos.

The Big One Done and Dusted!

And did those feet in modern time
Run upon England's mountain green?
And was the vest of Holme Pierrepont
On England's pleasant footpaths seen?
And did the beat of tireless feet
Ring forth upon our clouded hills?
And was a relay builded here
Among those valleys, cliffs and rills?

Bring me my trainers blue and gold!
Bring me my vest of red and blue!
Bring me my map – pages unfold!
Bring me my Garmin charged and true!
I will not cease from onward toil
be it on trail, or road or sand
Till we have run the length and breadth
Of England's green and pleasant land.

70 of us ran 861 miles in over 151 hours of running

With the two groups running into the Test Match Inn car park on Monday evening, we finally completed the challenge we set ourselves in April to celebrate our 25 years of existence with an appropriate running achievement. Many thanks to all those who took part. At the start it took the few who committed at the AGM to get it underway, and relied heavily on several members who travelled and ran wherever they were needed. I especially am indebted to two people. One is Sandy, who has run on nearly every day, and has attempted to stop me upsetting too many of you when things got fraught. The other is Bryn. It is not an overstatement to say that if Bryn had not taken on the sorting out of the northerly section, and helped me with problems and changes the exercise would not have succeeded.
