The
Pembrokeshire Coast Path Relay
23-26
May 2008 – Bank Holiday Weekend
Here
we go again! The yearly trek to some far off corner of Britain, to gently
run a Long Distance Footpath. This year we are going to West and South
Wales and will be cantering/jogging or even running a relay along ‘The
Pembrokeshire Coast Path National Trail’, which covers some 186 miles
(299Km) of the most spectacular scenery in Britain.
Most
of the route is along the coast and follows the magnificent coastline from
Amroth (near Saundersfoot) in the south to St Dogmaels (near Cardigan) in
the north. Much of the route
is at cliff-top level, providing superb views of the sea, beaches and
offshore islands with their wealth of marine and bird life.
Elsewhere it follows gentler shorelines, including the outer
reaches of Milford Haven Estuary
The
relay run is done over 2 and a half days, starting on Saturday (24th)
(although a small section will be run on Friday afternoon/evening) and
finishing in the late afternoon of Monday (26th). Each day
section is divided up into different legs of various lengths.
You can run a leg and then join someone else to run further.
Run in pairs or threes, whatever takes your fancy? Most of the legs
will be between 6 to 10 miles, but individual arrangements can be made
within reason, there will even be a walking section.
We
will be camping near Tenby on Friday night for those early starters and
the other two nights at places along the way, with the sea and a Pub near
by.
